Interrupted Night

I'll admit it, I'm spoiled. Faith is a good sleeper. Most nights she goes down by 7pm and I don't hear anything from her until 5:30/6am. Last night I went to hot power yoga, which for some reason seemed extra hard this week. Also the heater wasn't really working, so it was just humid and uncomfortably hot, instead of sauna hot. I didn't get home from yoga until after 9pm (the time I'm usually already in bed, don't judge) and I had to shower and eat chocolate. You really can't skip that step, it's critical :)

So I got to bed much later than normal. Does anyone else have a hard time falling asleep after working out at night? I used to have this problem all the time when I went to night time kung fu practices.

Anyway, everything was fine and I eventually fell asleep, until about 2am when Faith starting screaming bloody murder. Usually if she wakes up at night, it's more a progressive building up to all out screaming, but this was a less gentle wake up. She had a legitimate reason for getting me up (diaper full of poop, which is strange because it's been months since she pooped at night) and I eventually got her settled back down after about 30 minutes. Now it was my turn to try to fall back asleep, which frustratingly difficult.
Don't worry, none of this disturbed the dog's beauty sleep
So you'd think the fact that Faith got a fresh diaper and a 4oz "snack bottle" at 2am would mean that she would sleep later, right? At least, that's what I was hoping :) Nope, she was up by 5:20am singing in her crib. I don't use a baby monitor at night and her nursery door is closed, she is just a very loud singer.
What? I gotta express myself!
So here I am, awake before 6am, with a baby happily crawling around and babbling to herself. We're going to go for a run at 8:30am with a neighbor friend and then this afternoon my in-laws are coming for the night, so I better break out the one lone bottle of caffeinated soda in the fridge (saved for just these kinds of emergencies). I totally meant to clean up the house yesterday in the anticipation of people coming over, but somehow that didn't happen, but at least my MIL is the kind of guest who brings dinner and dessert :) Yes, be jealous.

What are your plans for the weekend? Anything fun for the superbowl?

I'm running 14 miles tomorrow morning and then I have no other set plans (maybe a nap at some point!)

  3. That is the cutest picture! Days after nights of bad sleep are tough, caffeine is a necessity for sure. Good luck on the run tomorrow - you'll do great!
