I have noticed a change in Faith lately. She is no longer content to let me do things for her. When I try to read a book to her, she'll try to pull it away from me so she can hold it herself:
 |
| This is MY book |
 |
| Why aren't you reading to me?? |
So basically she cries until I let her try to do it herself and then she cries if she can't do what she wants (like open that book). She's frustrated, but at least she's dreaming big. :)

| I'm going to get up on this couch! |
 |
| Wait, is that Paula Deen on the TV? |
 |
| No! I must focus! |
I find that she's the happiest when she thinks she's doing something herself, especially when it comes to food. She likes drinking out her sippy cups because she can do that by herself and her new favorite food is a pretzel rod. That will keep her quiet and happy for a good 15 minutes!

| Mmmm....salt |
I know all of this is how she's learning independence, but it's rough on me! There is so much fussing involved (Pick me up! Put me down!, etc). Hey, at least she doesn't have an opinion on her clothing choices yet, right?
I'm taking Ms. Independent with me for an easy 4 mile run with a neighbor friend. We might throw in some speed work, but it depends on the wind factor. It's almost impossible to do speed work while pushing a stroller into a stiff wind!
What's one thing you HAVE to do for yourself and can't let someone else do? For me, it's grocery shopping. I do so much impulse buying that I think no one else could possibly do it as well as me. :)
I have to do the laundry in the house. I'm not even sure why...I just need to be the one to do it!
ReplyDeleteBAHAHAHA focus! ooh Paula deen! =) omg you're hilarious!
ReplyDeleteI have to do my own shopping. Dishes? I never wan to do those again!!!!

I have to help make our bed...my husband just can't get the fitted sheet on the mattress tight enough. Weird, I know.
ReplyDeleteI am also with you on the grocery shopping, I am very particular about what gets into the cart.
I was totally singing Ms. Independent as I read this post! She's growing up :)
ReplyDeleteI'm bad about not letting other people do things for me. Grocery shopping and cooking (especially in my kitchen) are at the top of the list.
What a cutie pa-tootie.
ReplyDeleteAbout your comment on my blog.... (btw thanks)
The other day my husband told me he slept like a baby and I just got to thinking about how people use this term when they sleep well... silly because my babies never slept to well.
I'm somewhat of a control freak. When my fiance starts cleaning something or cooking (or breathing ;) ...poor guy) I try to give pointers on what he should do. I have to remove myself from the situation.
ReplyDeletepee.
ReplyDeleteShe's so cute-really growing up!
ReplyDeletespeed work with a stroller and wind sounds like a serious muscle building run! good luck!!
ReplyDeleteI hear ya, sister. We're entering the "I wanna do it myself but I can't really do it myself yet so I'm gonna whine about it" phase. It's super fun, no?
ReplyDeleteLOVE that picture of her whiny face. Like, "Mom, WHY did you let me grab this book? I can't do anything with it!". Silly babies.
I'm a massive control freak! I have to cook for myself because I am way too picky with my food to let others do it, I'm amazed I can even go to restaurants.
