2 - The number of old ladies who asked "How old is he?" when I dared to take Faith to the grocery store with her wearing teal pants.
1 - Medal received in the mail for my
10K last weekend. Faith was unimpressed. :)

Whatever Mommy, I'd like to see you run this fast with the stroller

Fancy! My collection is growing.
15 - The miles I intended to run on Saturday morning. I've been in a running funk for about a week now and I was just dreading the run. I met a friend for the last 5.5 miles and if she hadn't shown up, I would have called it a day at 8 miles. Instead, we finished up 13.53 miles in 2:04 (9:12 average). It was raining and nasty, but I was just happy I didn't give into my overwhelming desire to spend my 2 hours of baby-free time at the dry Starbucks drinking hot chocolate instead of running hills in the rain.
7 - Amount of times I thought I was going to have to take Faith to the nursery during Easter service. She was very chatty (and squealing!), but other babies were louder, so we made it through the whole service.

What? I have things to say.
3 - People I made wear bunny ears for pictures. This is counting my dog as a person, but she basically is a person, so let's go with it.

My little Marine brother doesn't look so tough with pink bunny ears :)

Mommy, enough with the bunny ears already.
|
This may be one of my all time favorite pictures

2 - Crazy dogs running laps around the house and playing all afternoon on Easter. Sherman is only 14 weeks old and he is getting so big!

I didn't get a chance to run on Sunday, which is OK considering my funk, but bad considering that my 50K is coming up (June 4th!). I plan on running today instead, hopefully my enthusiasm for long runs will magically come back this week. :)
Any tips on regaining my pep for long runs?
I'm right there with you on the running burn-out. I felt a lot better on a short run this morning, though. The rain and company made it a lot more fun than Saturday's 12 mile slog.
ReplyDeleteYour brother looks so unimpressed with the bunny ears. It made me giggle a little.
Congrats on your sweet medal!
Given my love for numbered lists this post really did it for me. Running funks suck. But, we've all been there, I'm sure it'll pass. Some really extreme ways I get "excited" when I feel like I really don't want to run: 1. picture myself being unprepared being screwed on like mile 15 of the race. 2. Think of all the people who can't run (or even walk). Last week I saw a woman speak who was a triathlete, she had her leg amputated this year and is planning to do the same triathlon as me in August. She said when you don't feel like getting out of bed (or whatever) to run, think to yourself that some people don't even have the choice. THERE'S some motivation! This was a long comment, as usual. Sweet medal!!
ReplyDeleteI have no tips. I'm in a funk that I am determined will end today with a little mind over body repetition.
ReplyDeleteLast year we did the bunny ears too. You ain't cool unless you wear the bunny ears :)
ReplyDeleteCongrats on the medal! And also, I'm so glad the purple dress won. If I can't wear a purple dress on Easter (I don't even own one!), then SOMEONE should!
9: number of salmon and shrimp sushi rolls eaten last night in honor of Jesus coming back from the dead and devouring everyone's brains.
ReplyDeleteThis post is cute! People used to constantly think my little brother was a girl, mostly because he had two older sisters and my mom really like his curly hair longish.
ReplyDeleteTip for getting out of your running funk - just do it! :)
ReplyDeleteBuy yourself some new music on iTunes and head out, that usually helps me get out if I am not motivated.
First of all, a big congrats on your medal! You go girl!
ReplyDeleteSecond, there were two people at my parents church this weekend who asked me how old HE was while my daughter was wearing a dress AND one of the times she even had a yellow headband on. WTH?
You know I'm not good for any tips, since I can barely talk myself into starting to run, but here's my two cents anyway: new running path, new music, perhaps an audiobook?
ReplyDeleteLove all the bunny ears :)
Congrats on your place at the run. That's awesome!
ReplyDeleteI think resting is the only way to regain your pep. because then you get so antsy to go. Works for me...
ReplyDeleteGreat pictures!
ReplyDeleteWhen I'm in a running funk, I look through an issue of Runnersworld and that always seems to give me inspiration! Good luck!
Look at it this way, long runs are the bread and butter of any endurance training program. You need to do them or race day will be a miserable experience. That usually motivates me!
