Even the baby thinks I need a pedicure

A bad case of the "I don't wannas"

I didn't wanna wake up at 5:30am. Unfortunately, babies still don't come with snooze buttons, so I got up.

I didn't wanna deal with a baby diaper poop-explosion or a puddle of dog vomit all before 7am, but that damn maid didn't show up again today, so I had to take care of it.

I didn't wanna run outside in the cold mist. I also didn't want to be the one wimping out of a run, so since my friend was game, we ran.

I didn't wanna wear real cloths, so I decided to put on my yoga clothes very, very early.

I don't wanna run on super muddy trails tomorrow, but as my husband pointed out "Are you not going to run your 50K if it might be muddy?". Sigh, so I'm going to do it anyway.

I don't wanna pack for our trip to northern VA this weekend. I already hate packing for just me, but adding a baby makes it so much worse.

I don't wanna get off the couch
I don't wanna go to yoga with my feet in their present state. I really wish I could get a pedicure with Faith on my lap.

I didn't wanna take a bath!
What have you done today that you "didn't wanna do"?

What is "Me Time"?

Since Faith only took one real nap yesterday (I'm not counting the pathetic 15 minute nap that took 45 minutes to happen), I was thinking about how her dropping a nap is going to impact my "me time". You hear this phrase a lot, but the more I thought about it, the less clear it became for me. Is "me time" any time I'm alone, or can it happen when Faith is awake?

When we first moved here, I worked two jobs. One of the jobs (the part-time one) required me to get up very early and I was mostly done by 8am. The second job was full time and I usually finished that by 5pm. Then I would get home, deal with Peanut craziness, make dinner, watch a little T.V. and do work for the next day and then crash early. Oh, did I mention that I woke up at 4:40am to workout before doing all of this?

After a year of doing that, I finally quit my mind-numbingly boring full time job and kept the part time job and started teaching at the community college. Working two part time jobs really let me experience the joy of free time, especially since I only taught class 2 times a week and the other job was a remote position. Since then, I've been accustomed to having a large amount of free time, usually to spend on the computer or reading.

When Faith first came, it was so stressful and hectic trying to figure out how to take care of a newborn (not to mention breastfeeding/pumping), that I didn't notice a lack of "me time". Eventually I started to miss it and I incorporated blog reading into my pumping routine (yes, I probably pumped while I read your blog, gross huh?).

Now that Faith is older, it's harder to find time to myself. Nap times are a pretty sacred time and when those go away, it makes me feel...unhinged. I think that's my biggest fear about Baby #2: the loss of any semblance of free time. I think a good solution is to redefine "me time".

What I do to try to fit in "Me Time" into baby awake time:
  • I read while Faith plays. It can take me forever to get through a book that way, but it lets me incorporate something I like into her playtime.
  • I've started listening to music during my stroller runs. I used to not do that because I was afraid I wouldn't hear the baby, but I've realized that I can see her, and I know what her "angry hands" look like, so music shouldn't be a problem.
  • Sometimes I read blogs while she plays. I say sometimes because Faith wants my computer. If she sees it, she drops what she has and comes to get it.
That's pretty much all I have at this point. I know as she gets older it should get easier (or harder, I'm not really sure).

How do you fit in "me time" into your busy day? What is your idea of "me time"?

10K and an off schedule baby

I did a two part 10K today. I did 3 miles on the treadmill while Faith was napping and when she got up, we went outside and did 3.2 miles. I got it all done in a combined time of 57 minutes and 32 seconds (9:07 average), but I was doing speedwork on the treadmill since I get bored otherwise. It's pretty windy outside, so if I hadn't done those first 3 miles inside, my overall time would have been slower! Faith didn't mind the wind, mostly because she was in her plastic cage:
Kick, kick, kick!
Peanut behaved reasonably well, so I think I'm going to let her join me again on shorter runs (in the 4 mile range).

Faith has been rebel today with her schedule. First she skipped her early morning nap. That kind of threw me for a loop because she never misses that one. I tried to get her to go down at 8am, but she wanted nothing to do with it. We had an extra long playtime this morning instead.
Why would you block me from playing on the stairs? Why?

I'm just going to have to chew my way through

At least chewing on this is better than walking into it, right Mommy?

Strike a pose

She's singing: "Da da da da"

Faith then napped from 10-11:30 and she seems to be in a good mood, so I'm just going to go with it. I just hope she'll take another nap because it's a long time until her 6:30pm bedtime without a nap!

Here's your corny joke for the day:

A pirate walks into a bar. The bartender looks at him and says, "Do you know you have a steering wheel in your pants?"

The pirate answers: "Arrrgh, it drives me nuts"

Can you top that one? :)

Things that really grind my gears

I don't normally read magazines unless I'm in a waiting room, but a couple years ago a young relative hit me up for some magazine subscription fundraiser. So now I have a 3 year subscription to Shape magazine and I'm pretty sure they just change the pictures every month because the content never seems to change. "Get fit at home!" "Guilt free snacks!" "How some celebrity got slim and fit!"

While leafing through this month's issue, I came across this:
If you can't read it, someone is asking about a "tummy pooch" after losing the baby weight. The answer is the usual: "Do some ab and core work!" but then it gets interesting. They recommend non-surgical plastic surgery that costs 2, 500 dollars per treatment. Really Shape? That's your answer?

6 weeks after I had Faith, I had my check up with my doctor. I remember asking him about loose skin and how long it would be until it tightened up. He laughed and said it would take a few months, or I just could gain some weight and fill it out and that would fix my problem. (Side note: my doctor thought he was a comedian). I was actually more concerned about my dark linea negra and when that would disappear (it's only recently disappeared!).

I've run countless miles since having Faith and completed a 10 mile race, a 5K, and a marathon. I do yoga on a regular basis and do abs occasionally when Faith is playing. So how is my stomach?

I think it's fine! It's not exactly how it was before, but you know what? That's ok because my body made another person and that's pretty amazing. I can't expect to house an 8lb + baby and not have some lasting effects. Also, it's one of those things that only I would notice. I guarantee you that no one else would think I had any loose skin on my stomach if they saw me in a bathing suit.

I can't believe a "woman's health magazine" is suggesting that subjecting your body (and your wallet) to plastic surgery is a good answer for some post-baby body changes. Your body may not be exactly the same, but even if you never have kids, eventually your skin will lose elasticity from age and you'll still end up a little saggy. I feel like stuff in magazines like this just perpetuates the idea that having kids ruins your body. How about just embracing what your body can do (like the miracle of life?) instead of spending the kid's college fund on plastic surgery?

Teething hell and how to calm a baby

We officially have tooth #6! It wasn't there yesterday, but today, there is a tooth nub poking out. At least there is a reason I was up at 1am and 3am this morning. In less than a month, Faith has gotten FOUR new teeth. Don't you think we deserve a break? Well, at this rate, we'll be done teething sooner at least. I just need a night or two of solid sleep in between these teeth, that's all I ask.

My run went pretty well this morning. It was surprisingly cold and really windy. I used the wind shield on the stroller and Faith was so cozy in there that she slept most of the run. My toe did alright, it only bled a little and the pain isn't too bad. Even my husband who is used to my klutziness was surprised that I cut the bottom of my toe on the baby gate, but I'm sure other people have done it too....right?

I really enjoyed reading your corny jokes on this morning's post, I think I might need to do that more often. :)

I saw this video on the Tosh.O blog and I had to share. The good news: the baby isn't crying anymore. The bad news: the baby might be the Antichrist.

Faith used to have this same reaction to the vacuum cleaner.

Rest day blues and spinach facials

I think I have a rest day problem. In my mind, I know rest days are important and my body needs that time off, but whenever I don't work out, I feel like I got nothing accomplished that day. I actually usually get more accomplished on rest days because I have more time, but still by the end of the rest day, I feel blah. There is something about running that makes me feel like my day is complete. If I ever get a injury that sidelines me for weeks, my husband has already threatened to travel for that entire time so he doesn't have to deal with Cranky Kara (not a pretty sight).

I've tried keeping busy on rest days and that helps the most. Also, going for a walk is good too. Confession: I don't wash my hair on rest days (don't judge) and I think that contributes to my feeling "ugh" by the end of the day. No one likes greasy bangs, but it's good for your hair to have a rest day too, right? :)

Does anyone else feel this way about rest days too? Luckily, I'm going to run this morning, so even if I get nothing else done, I will have accomplished that! Faith was crying at 1am, but then fell back asleep before I got there and then she was back up at 3am and I gave her more Motrin and then she slept until 6:40am, which is pretty good for her. Hopefully once this tooth fully cuts, we'll be back to peaceful nights!

Since I didn't run yesterday, I took a ton of Faith pictures:

Yo

Cutest thing ever

Mommy, I can't play while you're watching me
Faith loves her greens and last night I gave her some spinach with brown rice (courtesy of Gerber) and she liked it so much that she wanted to wear it:

It's like going to a spa

Get baby soft skin!
Joke of the day: What kind of bees make milk?

Answer: Boo-bees!

What's the corniest joke that you know?

A FML kind of Monday (Plus Giveaway winner!)

Today started at 3am when I had to get up with Faith to give her a fresh diaper and more Motrin. I couldn't fall back asleep, but I thought it would be ok because I would nap when Faith took her morning nap.

Faith was ready to go down for her nap at 8am, so I picked her up to carry her upstairs. I completely forgot that we put up a baby gate at the bottom of the stairs (we put it up on Saturday) and I rammed my foot into it pretty hard. I thought it was a just a normal stubbed toe, so I just stepped over it and walked upstairs and put Faith in her crib.

Then I walked back downstairs and grabbed a quick snack (don't you snack to nap?) and as I was sitting and eating some cereal, I noticed that my foot felt...sticky. First, I thought I stepped in something, so I picked up my foot and looked at it. I didn't step in something, my foot was all bloody because I am special enough to cut my foot on a BABY gate. Something designed to keep babies safe...and to injure the mothers? I cut one of my toes on the underside and no, I have no idea how that even happens.

It gets better. We have white carpeting on the stairs. So I walked up and down the stairs while bleeding. I also walked on the wood floors and all over the kitchen (which I just mopped yesterday). So instead of taking a nap, I spent some time scrubbing the carpet and walking around with a paper towel looking for my own blood tracks all over the house. I finally finished and went upstairs to lay down and ten minutes later, Faith started making noises. No nap for me!

I'm pretty sure I didn't break a toe, but even if I did, it doesn't really matter because I have tape here. I might tape them before I run tomorrow just to be on the safe side since one of them is a little swollen.
Geez Mommy, be careful
I'm already grateful that Alyssa is running this 50K with me. She is cracking me up by doing WAY too much research on the race. I take the "ignorance is bliss" approach and she's scaring herself with stories of snakes on the race course. :) She did find some cool pictures from previous year's races!
I bet I can beat this guy

Look how much fun he's having!
I picked the winner of the Ella's Kitchen baby food giveaway today! The winner (as decided by Random.org) is comment number 9, Megan at Loving the Little Things!! Megan, please email me at kara975 at gmail.com so I can get your address for your prize!

Poll: Can cleaning my own blood out of the carpet count as my Lenten cleaning today? I'm thinking yes.

Faith wants Peanut to play!

If you ever met Peanut in real life, you'd be shocked to know that she's actually really lazy in the house. Outside she bounces around and seems really hyper, but this is much closer to the truth. Although for anyone out there thinking about getting a hound, it took over 2 years of insanity to get this point, just FYI. :)

At noon today, I'm drawing the winner of the Ella's Kitchen organic baby food giveaway! You still have time to enter, see this post

Faith was up with teething issues again last night, so at 3am I was up giving her more Motrin and pretty much as soon as I was able to fall back asleep, my husband's alarm went off. At least today is my rest day from running, so I can try to squeeze a nap in one of Faith's nap times instead of trying to run then. My  husband has class tonight, so he'll be home after Faith's bedtime, so that makes it a long day for me.

Lenten Challenge update: I suck. I"m probably only doing the cleaning thing 3 or 4 days out of the week. I refuse to give up on it though, so I'm just going to keep trying. It's funny that on the days that I do actually clean something (like vacuum) are the days that I ignore the sink full of dishes. :)

I think it's much harder to add something to your day than give it up! What do you think, would it be easier for you to add something or give it up?

Snowy Sunday

Despite the fact that it's almost April, we woke up to snow this morning! It's really a pathetic amount and it's all almost gone already. We didn't make it to church this morning because of the combination of my husband not sleeping well and Faith getting up at 5:30am (which puts her nap time during our normal church time). We had a late start to the morning and we all had eggs for breakfast: an omelet for Jeff, fried matzoh for me, and a scrambled egg for Faith. It's the second time she's had egg and she thinks it's a great toy and fun to throw to Peanut.

I did an easy 5K (3.1 miles) on the treadmill this morning in 30 minutes. I finished watching Secretariat as I ran and I have to say it's a great movie. I'm a sucker for horse movies, but I thought this one was well done. I want to show this one to Faith when she's old enough!

I did my grocery shopping yesterday, so I have nothing I need to do today. My husband has a bunch of homework, so I may try to take Faith out for a bit so he can have some quiet. Or as much quiet as you can get with our crazy hound.

My mother-in-law gave Faith a cute new bib (extra absorbent for teething drool!) last week and I put it on her for the first time today:

I think I know that guy

Elmo? Is that you?

Mommy, why is Elmo upside down?
In other Faith news, she has figured out that she can cruise along on furniture. This basically means none of our possessions are safe unless they are on a high shelf.

Hmmm....I see good stuff over there

Bingo!
I actually don't feel very sore from my 17 mile run yesterday and I credit that to my ice bath and my liberal use of Tiger Balm on my ankles and calves. I put enough on myself this morning to look like I had a bad fake tan. Also, using this stuff will make your husband walk into the room and say "Why does it smell like licorice and cinnamon in here?". :)

What's your favorite horse movie? I think mine is National Velvet, but I like so many, it's hard to pick just one!

My stomach can beat up your stomach

I've read enough blogs to know that most people eat things like one measly piece of toast with a smear of organic almond butter or half a granola bar before heading out for a run. Then when they return, they make themselves a smoothie with things like chia seeds and spinach, or if they're feeling wild, maybe some pancakes.

In my world, I don't have time to fix a fancy breakfast for myself when I get back from a long run. I come back into the house and my husband has a vague panicked expression that relaxes when he sees me and can hand me the baby. So I need a breakfast that lasts until lunch!

Also, I'm not one of those people who can't eat before they workout. The only thing I need avoid is fiber (the devil!). So this is what I ate before I ran 17 miles this morning:
Leftover baked ziti from last night

Hot chocolate with a marshmallow
Yes, this was consumed at 6:15am and then at 7am I started to run. As I was eating, I was thinking that I'm probably one of the only people who eats like this before a run, so I thought it was blog worthy. I had no stomach issues at all and I felt great for the whole run.

I drank about 60 oz of water during the run and had a Gu at mile 7 and 13. I did about 8 miles of this run off the road on a sandy/rocky/dirt road, which made my ankles really fatigued. I came back home, gave Faith a bottle (and got my sweat all over her) and then I took an ice bath and then a hot shower. After my shower, I changed a poopy diaper, played with Faith, fed her oatmeal and eventually put her down for a nap. See how making pancakes wouldn't really fit in there?

I did the 17 miles (actually 17.18) in 2:45 (9:37 average pace), and I felt good at the end like I could have gone further.

Just for background, for some reason during pregnancy/nursing, I got really into eating dinner and lunch food for breakfast. The habit stuck with me! Also, this is why I don't blog my food. :)

Do you have a stomach of steel or do you have to watch what you eat before breaking a sweat?

The kid is trying to kill me

So far today, Faith has eaten and almost choked on cardboard:

Fiber?
Then she tried to climb up the stairs and when I ran to get her down, she tried to evade me and ended up falling off one stair and smacking her little noggin on the hard wood. It's amazing to me how much trouble she can get into while I'm right there. Getting a baby gate is our #1 priority this weekend! Also, yes she's wearing the same pajamas again. I did wash them. :)

You can't control me!
Also, it's apparently snowing heavily where my husband is, so his flight got delayed. Arghhhh. Luckily, he's on his way now, so he will be home today...at some point. I really hate that we live 2 hours from an airport! I grew up 15 minutes from Dulles airport, so it's frustrating to deal with driving so far just to get to the airport!

So, now the baby has a bruise on her head and I feel like The Worst Mother of the Year. My mom suggested that I get her some kind of baby helmet, but I'm pretty sure that will just teach her that falling doesn't hurt and she'll have to wear that forever. Also, I'm sure it would be bad for her developing psyche if her mom was laughing at her every day.

I'm impressed at how many people guessed correctly this morning! The lie was #3. I have a belly button piercing. I'm down with tattoos, but piercings kind of creep me out. I hate the idea of getting it caught on something!

So, yes I did try to jump over a vacuum cleaner and break my arm in the 3rd grade and I also lived at home until I got married.

What's the most embarrassing injury you've ever had? I have to say that the vacuum cleaner thing isn't my most embarrassing and I actually don't even want to admit my actual most embarrassing injury. I'll have to save it for a very special confessions post. :)

I think I need to rename my blog

There is way more "baby lick dog" going on around here than "dog lick baby"

Pretty soon I'm going to ride this hound!

Blurry, but you can see the baby drool marks
I am SO glad that it's Friday. My husband has been gone all week and it's just been me, the teething baby, and the retarded dog. He's coming home today and I'm looking forward to having someone to talk to tonight (adult interaction, woohoo!). Also, I think Faith is getting another tooth and it will be nice to have him here to help me distract her. She thinks he's the funniest thing ever. :)

To console herself with her daddy being gone, Faith has been doing some of the following:

Gnawing on a pacifier (no, she won't actually use it)

Making sure I don't get away

Gnawing on the coasters (see a theme here?)

Playing with the outside of the jumperoo, but refusing to go IN the jumperoo
Today is my rest day from running since I'm doing 17 miles tomorrow. I checked the weather and we're supposed to get a wintry mix on Sunday, so I'm really glad I'm not running the National Marathon then! I considered that race, but ended up choosing the one I ran 2 weeks ago. That was a wise choice since it was 60 and clear that day! Seriously winter, no one likes you...go away!

We'll end this random post with a random game: 2 truths and a lie! Do you know which one is a lie?? (Mom, you can't play)

1. I once broke my arm trying to jump over the vacuum cleaner.

2. I lived at home until I was married.

3. My belly button is pierced.

Also, for those who asked, the BOB weather shield has downward facing vents in at least 5 spots, so Faith gets fresh air from those (but the rain can't come in). She is warmer in there because there is no wind, so that's why she was just wearing her PJs and a jacket!

Peer pressure can be a good thing

Well, I was able to use a little peer pressure to get two friends to agree to run in the rain with me. We must have been quite the sight since we all had BOB strollers with weather shields. If you think you get funny looks from passing motorists when you're running the rain/snow/whatever, add a baby to the mix and you get some really funny looks. :)

This was my first time using the weather shield and it was fantastic. Faith didn't get one drop of rain on her (and it was raining pretty hard at times!) and stayed cozy when the wind started to blow.
Mommy, you're crazy
So I did 2 miles on the treadmill while Faith took her early morning nap (from 7:45-8:30am) and then 4 more outside to get my full 6 for the day. I felt really good today, probably because I got to sleep a ton last night. I went to bed at 8:45pm and I didn't hear a peep from Faith until 5:50am. Other than some dog snoring, it was a peaceful night!

Speaking of the dog, she was very upset about staying home from the run this morning. I could hear her howling as I walked away from the house. I felt bad, but she acted like I was killing her yesterday when we were running, so I think she needs a break from running. Maybe even dogs get burnt out?

Peanut has been consoling herself by sleeping 22 hours a day instead. She usually only sleeps upstairs, but for some reason she tried to sleep downstairs yesterday.
Dog feet!

What flavor is this one?

I can't believe you're just watching this happen

Peanut, wake up! Come play!
Now you know why Peanut usually sleeps upstairs. :)

Have peer pressured anyone into something lately or had it happen to you? So far this week, I peer pressured Alyssa into a 50K and also 2 normally sane women into running in the rain. I wonder what I'll do next week!

Baby squats!

Faith has been doing lots of squats recently! Maybe she's building up her leg strength for walking? That's a Leap Frog Learning table she's playing with, we actually got it second hand and she really likes it. Also, if you're wondering why I'm recording her back, it's because if she sees me, she won't do the squats. :)

I never got to do my extra two miles yesterday. I got a chill sitting in my sweaty gear waiting to run, so I took a shower. Then I didn't feel well (can I still blame the dog?), so I pretty much got in my PJs at 3pm and stayed that way until bedtime. I have a recorded Sugarland concert saved on the DVR and I put that on for Faith and that kept her pretty happy until bedtime. She doesn't really watch it, but she likes the music!

My goal is to get 6 miles in today instead, since I did just 4 yesterday. I know it's not a big deal to miss out on two miles, but I don't like not completing a workout if I can help it. Also, I feel all better this morning, so I should take advantage of that!

It's raining this morning, so I'll probably have to run alone (my running friends don't share my dedication to running outside in ANY weather). I have the new rain shield for the stroller, so Faith won't care if it's raining. I'll probably leave Peanut at home though because I don't want her ruining another run and I don't want her smelling like a wet dog for the rest of the day!

Are you a fair weather running/walker, or do you go out no matter what? I pretty run in all conditions except for ice. I have to draw the line somewhere. :)

Everything is more fun with a friend!

I'm so excited that my blogging buddy Alyssa has made the plunge and decided to sign up for the same 50K as me for June! It's going to be so much more fun with someone to chat with as we run. I remember thinking during my marathon that it would suck so much less if someone was running with me!

When I told my mom about Alyssa running with me, she asked, "Are  you sure 'she' isn't a 45 year old man?" My response: "As long as he can keep up, that's cool too" :)

Alyssa and I ran marathons one week apart and finished within 2 minutes of each other (she beat me), so pace-wise, we're a perfect match. Plus, I think we have the same high level of excitement at the thought of a cookie and doughnut break at mile 15 in the 50K.

I'm working a training plan for the 50K. I don't have much luck using premade training plans because my weekday workouts are baby dependent. If a plan tells me to do an 8 mile run on Wednesday, well that's nice, but it isn't going to happen with the baby. So I take bits and pieces from training plans and make my own using my awesome Excel skills.

Also, doing my own training plan lets me customize it for my running and travel schedule. I'm planning on doing a 17 mile run this weekend (I'm maintaining my marathon fitness level), but the following weekend, we'll be traveling and I'll only have time for 10 miles. The weekend after that is my 10 mile race weekend. So basically, my body is going to be confused. :)

Faith woke up screaming her little head off at 1am this morning. I still don't know why, because after I fumbled around downstairs and found her Motrin, she fell back asleep. The rest of the night she periodically let out one scream (enough to wake me) and then fell back asleep. She got up for the day at 5:40 am (same as yesterday), so it seems my dreams of daylight savings time fixing our pre-6am waking habits are not coming true. She's lucky she's cute!

I attempted a 6 mile run this morning. The conditions were good, the baby fell asleep in the stroller, so I guess the dog thought this could be her moment to get some attention. She kept stopping for no reason, which just about pulls me off my feet. I can't really see her since she runs right next to me, so I have no warning. So I had to cut it short at 4 and I'm going to try to get the last 2 on the treadmill later. If anyone wants a stupid coonhound, I can cut you a deal.

Mile 1: 9:07
Mile 2: 9:12
Mile 3: 9:07
Mile 4: 8:34 (I run faster when I'm pissed off)

I bet Peanut acted like that because she's lazy
I am no.....zzzzzzz
I took that last pic literally 5 minutes after we got back. Lazy mutt.

Wednesday Confessions

I finally watched The Notebook for the first time last night. What a downer of a movie! Why do so many people like this movie?

Since when is cheating and Alzheimer's considered romantic?

I feed my baby to sleep at night, despite all the books telling me not to do that. I'm raising a rebel.
Yo

I like my pasta to be a little undercooked and my husband thinks that's the strangest thing ever, but someone out there must like it that way too, right?

I am a huge dork and I regularly make Star Wars and Star Trek references in every day conversations.

I always struggled to finish the mile in the allotted time in middle school and high school.

I was cut from every team sport I tried in high school and I think that cuts shouldn't be allowed and every kid that wants to practice and play should be allowed.

I really like bologna and I'm not afraid to admit it.

Do you have any confessions to add?

Ella's Kitchen organic baby food Review and Giveaway!

Like most parents, I want my baby to have fresh and natural food. However, my baby is a little picky and doesn't like most of the things I make because I can't seem to get the right texture at home. Enter Ella's Kitchen Organic baby food! I'd noticed this brand on the shelf at Target because of their unusual packaging, and the company sent me (well, Faith really) a pack of their food to sample for the blog.

The first flavor we tried was Carrots, Apples and Parsnips. I loved how the food seemed so fresh and didn't seem as processed as the Gerber stuff. I tasted it and thought it was great. Faith pretty much hates carrots, but she still ate this. I think this flavor was her least favorite, but she still ate most of it and then played with the pouch:

Nom nom nom
The next flavor we tried was Sweet Potatoes, Pumpkin, Apples, and Blueberries. This was a big hit with Faith! She loves blueberries and she kept smiling as she ate this:

Yay, berries!

I'd like another please
The next flavor we tried was Spinach, Apples, and Rutabaga. I have to admit that I've never had rutabaga before, so I had to try a bit too. I could only taste the apple, but Faith loved this one too! By this point in the reviewing process, she had learned to suck the food from the pouch which made her very happy (again with doing things herself!)

A baby green monster
The next flavor was Butternut Squash, Carrots, Apples, and Prunes. I didn't try this one (prunes are not on my favorite food list) and I was expecting Faith to not really like this because of the carrots, but I was wrong! She loved this and sucked the pouch dry.

Mmmm...prunes
The next flavor, Strawberries and Apples, was a home run. I was able to just open the top and hand it to Faith and she did the rest!

I don't need Mommy's help!
The last big pouch flavor was Apples and Bananas and I was able to let Faith do most of that one too. I could get used to that!

Mommy does the dishes while I feed myself!
The last two were called "The Yellow One" and "The Purple One". My computer seemed to have hidden my pictures of the Purple One, but it's the same basic idea as the Yellow One. These are little smoothies in a pouch and it's the perfect size for baby hands.

I like this even though it has mango in it
My overall review: I love these foods! I feel like she's getting a really good quality product and the unique packaging lets Faith take control of her own feeding.
