Twice now the reason has been more concrete: poop. My kid stopped pooping in her diaper overnight when she was six months old, so this isn't standard. It's pretty easy for me to figure out why she's doing it and it's totally my fault: berries have been on a buy one, get one free sale. Faith loves berries (like, turn down a cookie for a berry level of love), and I like giving her food that she loves. I (mistakenly) thought that she wouldn't eat more than she could handle, so I've been letting her have as much as she wants for dessert after lunch and dinner. Normally we're limited by the berry quantity in the house, but with the sales, I have a large quantity of berries and they were on sale because they are going to rot in two days, so there is no sense in rationing them. Well, there is some sense in doing that...obviously.
Only half a plate? Mommy, stop holding out on me.
Berry berry berry...in my belly and right to my diaper!
You're going to regret this later Mommy
After the second time of changing a foul fruit poop diaper at midnight, I decided to cut Faith off. It didn't work too well because I said I'd make fruit salad to go with Easter lunch at my mom's, and guess who really likes to help me make fruit salad? Hopefully I won't be up at midnight knuckle deep in berry shit. You're welcome for that visual.
We were gone all day today, so that meant my husband needed all day yesterday to do his grad school work. He's doing his big project this semester (like a thesis, but somehow more boring), so he's really swamped. This meant that I couldn't dump the kid with him and go to a social run, so I ran on the treadmill when Faith napped instead. Luckily Faith has swim lessons on Saturday morning, so her naps are usually long after that. I only did 5 miles because I felt really barfy, but it was better than nothing.
This morning we had to be at my mom's church by 8:30am for Easter service, so that meant we left our house at 6:15am. Faith wasn't thrilled to be woken up that early, but then she saw her Easter basket with her new stuffed dinosaur and that helped make it all better.
Mr. Apatosaurus!
You'll never go extinct in my heart
It was a really long day (we didn't get home until almost 5pm) but Faith was really well behaved even though she totally missed her nap. She hates sleeping anywhere that isn't her crib at home, so I made the decision to not have her scream for at least 30 minutes before passing out in exhaustion. The last time that she missed a nap, it took me over an hour the following day to get her to settle down and sleep for nap time, so yay for screwing myself over!
I forgot my camera in the car today, so just imagine lots of adorable pictures of Faith with her uncle (my little brother) who recently returned from Afghanistan. The best part was how she was trying to scratch off his new tattoos because she must have thought it was a sticker. In just one afternoon he taught her that punching people in the face is funny and how to make that disgusting loogie hacking noise. Ah, family time.
How was your Easter/Passover/Sunday?
you're turning your kid into a fatty too. Like mother like daughter. Good job.
ReplyDeleteThat dinosaur pic is priceless. :-)
ReplyDeleteEaster was totally different for us this year. We were on a plane coming back from Vegas at 12:45 am and landed at 9:30am. I spent it in a haze.
So many lovely visuals. So since you dress your kid, did you put her in that shirt to help your self esteem?
ReplyDeleteOur Easter was spent at Church and then inlaw hopping. We did manage to tucker Bungee out with a trail run, though.
I'm pretty sure Carter's designs baby clothing like that to remind us to not eat our young.
DeleteWe have the same set of plates!
ReplyDeleteRamsey loves berries, too. One serving for him is one container, so I can relate.
Faith and her dino are too cute.
Isn't it time for another belly shot? How's your cervical mucus?
Easter - We hiked for two hours, and I hid eggs along the trail. It was great.
DeleteBut should I do a belly shot in the morning or at night? It changes SO MUCH. Hahahahaha
DeleteYeah, you better do a belly shot or the internet won't believe you are actually pregnant.
DeleteI wish there was a *like* button for these comments.., ha!
DeleteApatosaurus will never be real to me. I hope you teach the old school dino names.
ReplyDeleteI love Faith loving her dinosaur, such a cutie! My kids really dig berries too! We go through far more than a normal family of 6 should, luckily we don't have anyone in diapers so I'm in the clear there!
ReplyDeleteEaster was good here, I worked, hubs cooked and cleaned and then I came home and ate sugar. It was a great day!
Easter? Mmmm...church, brunch with the family, then just a bunch of the usual weekend errands. It was nice.
ReplyDeleteI agree with Faith. A serving of strawberries is totally a container. At least it seems like your new laissez faire parenting seems to be working, right? She's eating.
That picture of Faith is adorable. And definitely not helping my current baby-inundated mental state...
ReplyDeletelove her little Easter dress! She is so adorable. P is like that about fruit too....maybe we should try to limit her as well. No poops at midnight yet though.
ReplyDeleteBlueberries, cherries at Rosaryville....I'm sensing a theme here. Maybe you should just start ignoring that part of the produce section? It's best that Faith learn now that fruit is not dessert anyway. Also, wouldn't a dedicated blogger just walk out to the car and get the camera?
ReplyDeleteOh man, I hope your night was berry shit free :)
ReplyDeleteI think it's pretty funny that Faith was trying to scratch off your brother's new tattoo - I can imagine the picture, "wtf mom, don't these come off like mine?"
ReplyDeletehope she is back to normal this week! that darn fruit!
ReplyDeleteLove the berry photos. Faith looks like she is enjoying it so much. It would be hard to say no berries to that face. We haven't changed the B's diet but she's been midnight poop streak this week. Yay midnight poop!
ReplyDeleteHope you get an extra long nap out of her today! I remember hearing that toddlers go through some sleep regression around 18-20 months, we had a week or two of it, too. Hope it passes quickly!
ReplyDeleteHaha. Mine were just full of chocolates and none of berry poop.
ReplyDeleteAre you going to get a dog to replace Peanut soon? Or not until you replace Faith?
ReplyDeleteWe spent Saturday night having a sleepover with my Mom, sister, her husband, and my 2 year old niece. I was in charge of getting up if she woke up in the middle of the night. She woke up 5 times! Once she lost her piglet, but the other 4-no excuse except she wanted to whine. My sister said she was playing me hard. Needless to say, it was birth control for a bit.
ReplyDeleteAww, I can only imagine her little face as she tried to scratch off the tattoo. I love her dinosaur that she got for Easter!
