Everything is right in the world again.

| Yay, Peanut is coming home! Time to dance in our seats! |
She's nowhere near 100% yet (she had to lay down and nap mid-dinner to have the energy to be able to finish her tiny bowl of food), but I feel so much better having her home!
 |
| So...did you get me any "Get Well Soon!" presents or what? |
 |
| Huh, no new toys. This is bullcrap. |
 |
| I thought we were pretty clear that I earned a new toy. |
Peanut still has some recovery ahead of her and isn't even allowed to run with me or play fetch in the yard for 2 weeks. Since the vet thinks she got sick from eating old poop in the yard that had grown a toxic mold, I cleaned up the whole yard today and from now on I'm going to pick up her poop as she goes, just like I would do when we used to live in an apartment. I'm not super excited about doing clean up all the time, but I also never want her to get sick again.
When I picked her up, the vet came out to see us and I thanked her for everything and said "I was so worried about her. I really thought she was going to die" and the vet laughed and said "Me too!". See, I knew it would be a funny story one day!
Thank you to everyone for your supportive comments about Peanut. If she could type, she'd say thank you too.

| I know I'm the real star of this blog |
I didn't read one day and your dog got sick?? I need to go back and read. I hate it when fur kids are sick. You never know how to help them! Glad she is okay!
ReplyDeletethe term "fur kids" bugs me. wtf, it's a dog. Not a child.
ReplyDeletethat's why I use the term "fur babies" and chew up their cat food for them and spit it in their mouths.
DeleteI nearly peed my pants at Emily's response. Thanks for a good laugh this morning!
DeleteYay, she's home! Bet she's loving that blanket and couch tonight!
ReplyDeleteI'm so happy that Peanut is doing better and is back home.
ReplyDeleteGreat Peanut is home. I do doggie pickup for our big yard. It takes forever with two dogs since they "go" everywhere but it is worth it to avoid vet bills. Plus we get wildlife through the yard leaving droppings too. The glamorous life of a doggie parent.
ReplyDeletePeanut does deserve a new doggie toy.
At least Peanut has special places in the yard for poop so it's not that hard to find it :)
DeleteThat's only because she (Peanut) hasn't had to worry about people stealing her poop. Once you start doing that, she'll have to start hiding it.
DeleteYAY!
ReplyDeletePoor, dear, sweet Peanut! I'm glad to hear she's going to be okay. Two weeks without running sounds pretty rough. Has she considered pool running?
ReplyDeleteYou know, my mom's dog hurt his ACL and had physical therapy in a pool with a little underwater treadmill. Too bad I don't love Peanut enough to drive her there and pay for that :)
Deleteglad to hear Peanut is back home and on the road to recovery. :)
ReplyDeleteYAY PEANUT!!!!
ReplyDelete(boo for having to clean up poop)
I'm glad she's feeling better, the poo, ah like you don't see enough of thAt. It's my first thing I do when I go in the backyard, the poo patrol.
ReplyDeleteI would have been better about it if I'd known it was actually dangerous, not just icky!
DeleteI've been thinking about you guys today- so glad to hear your fur kid is back home! (yes, I said fur kid, so suck it, Brian!)
ReplyDeleteI'm so happy she's doing better and back home!
ReplyDeleteWhat would you blog about without Peanut? Maybe you should go buy her some new toys.
ReplyDeleteAlso, you know we will now never believe you when you claim to hate the dog.
Now my cover is blown :)
DeleteKara, I'm really glad she is doing okay and home with y'all!
ReplyDeleteMy buddy! She's home!
ReplyDeleteWhat a caring and sensitive vet.
ReplyDeleteDon't worry, Peanut may have earned a new toy from Bungee. She's way more generous than her stingy mom.
I'm so glad Peanut is okay! Who knows they could get that sick from that! I'm going to have to clean my yard too...
ReplyDeleteOh - that's great news. I'm glad Peanut is home and things look good!
ReplyDeleteI think you need to make a special trip for Peanut to PetSmart and load up with at least $49.99 in new stuff! She would also like some of those Beggin' Strips por favor :)
ReplyDeleteWhat a relief! I knew she'd pull through. Any dog who can run a 1:46 12 mile half marathon isn't going to be bested by a little toxic poop.
ReplyDeleteYeah Peanut!! So glad to hear she is doing better. She totally deserves a new toy ... not that you really want to encourage her to pull this little prank again though ;)
ReplyDeleteSo glad she's home and feeling better!
ReplyDeletei'm so happy peanut is on the road to recovery! good idea about the poop. i know hawk definitely eats poop (why do they do that?!) and even though i clean the yard i should do it more often.
ReplyDeleteSo happy to hear she's back! I'd spoil the heck out of her!
ReplyDeleteYay! I'm so happy Peanut is home and healthy again! Well as healthy as Peanut can be, right?
ReplyDeleteI'm sure Faith is happy to see her again too!
I missed yesterday's post so I did not know Peanut was sick, but I am so, so glad to hear she is OK!
ReplyDeleteGlad Peanut is home and doing better!
ReplyDeleteCatching up here... what a scary story! So glad she's home and doing okay. Hope she recovers quickly!
ReplyDeletePhew! So glad that Peanut is going to be a-okay!
ReplyDeleteI'm so happy she's bouncing back, even if she has to take it super easy for a while. Wow!!!! Hooray for positive thoughts!!
ReplyDeleteThis made my weekend! So glad she's going to mend! I was sad for both you and Faith--now I'm happy and wish I could get her some dog biscuits (for when she's totally recovered).
ReplyDeleteYikes, Phin sometimes goes on shit-eating streaks in our backyard. I didn't know it could be so toxic...
ReplyDeleteGreat news! My daughter ate her own poop, never my dog. That's why Darby can lay on the couch, but Charlotte needs to sit by my feet.
ReplyDeleteI was so happy when I read this on my phone the other day. Fabulous news! Peanut looks fabulous and definitely earned a new toy. I guess I'll be a better poop-picker-upper too now!
ReplyDeleteI'm so glad she's home! Feel better soon, Peanut!
