Don't worry though, it feels a lot better today and it only blistered in 2 spots so I probably don't have to go for the elective amputation after all. When it happened last night I realized I'm woefully short on first aid supplies, so Faith and I had a Target trip this morning to stock up.
In case you needed picture proof
No pictures of the burned hand because it would gross me out to see that on someone else's blog so I don't want to subject readers to that (yes, I know I have posted dog vomit pictures, but that's just funny).
My joints have been feeling sore this week, so I took today as a semi-rest day and just walked 4.25 miles instead of running. I did most of it on the treadmill with an incline, so it was still a decent workout. I'm finding that rest days are making a big difference in how my joints feel, which is pretty much a no brainer, but I still have to remind myself to take them more often than otherwise. I realized I haven't posted a picture of myself in a few weeks, so in case you're dying to see my growing girth, here you are:
Yep, still pregnant.
This week is the last week of the summer reading program at our library so they had a pajama and stuffed animal story time tonight at 6pm. I was surprised that Faith was one of the only toddlers in attendance, but I guess a 6pm event attracts the older kids. It was a little bit embarrassing to have the only kid who want to "help" the librarian read the story by loudly repeating the last word of every page and making helpful sound effects like "ROAR!!!" and instructing all the kids to "CLAP! CLAP!" at the end of each book.
Well, SOMEONE has to tell those kids what to do
Faith's latest obsession is with trying to jump, but for some reason she just can't get the hang of it. Considering how hard she tries, I know she figure it out soon, but until then...it cracks me up. For your viewing pleasure:
I decided that getting through the week deserved a special dinner, so we picked up dinner on the way home and then had a "pajama picnic" while watching the Olympics. Here's something you don't see on many blogs:
Well, McDonald's is an Olympic sponsor
OMG Mommy, people are going to talk about your toddler feeding habits now
Peanut wasn't a fan of our picnic idea, mostly because I didn't get her a happy meal too.
This diet SUCKS
I hate you all
Faith is a huge Olympics fan. Her favorite events are the swimming ("POOL! SWIMMING!" as she calls it) and the equestrian events. My brainwashing of her has been so effective.
Daddy loves how Mommy is training me to love the most expensive hobby ever!
What's your favorite fast food? I like the burgers from Wendy's, but the fries from McDonald's. Faith just likes any meal that comes in a colorful box.
Fries with a Frosty to dip them in from Wendy's. Hands down.
ReplyDeleteOh dear LORD, I thought my husband was the only one that did that!
DeleteThat is the greatest thing EVER!
DeleteI should have told her that dressage is stupid.
ReplyDeleteShe knows better.
DeleteAmen to the comment above that said to dip french fries into a Frosty - so good. Runner up is chicken tenders and curly fries from Arby's.
ReplyDeleteOur Arby's closed! I was going to get curly fries tonight, but I was thwarted.
Deleteson of baconator. who am i kidding? regular baconator. yummm. Burger King shakes. McDonald's fries. Culver's anything. I eat really healthy.
ReplyDeleteMe too, me too.
DeleteRaisin' Cane's Chicken Fingers. Not good for me but awesome........
ReplyDeleteThat video is ADORABLE :)
ReplyDeleteYep I'm going to be the first to admit...Chick Fil a. It's pretty much the only fast food place I eat at.
ReplyDeletePeanut. I love her
i bet you club baby seals too.
DeleteOnly the gay ones. It's what Jesus would want.
Delete50 years ago he would have wanted her to club the black ones too.
DeleteThank god they didn't club all the black seals 50 years ago -- just think how emaciated and sad all those killer whales hanging out looking for white seals would be, by now.
DeletePS: In the spirit of Olympics, here is a great badminton baby seal video: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=eEhQ5nauXgY
DeleteThat is the best thing I've seen all day.
DeleteThis exchange made me snort. So funny.
DeleteThat video was amazing, especially this comment: I guess his fate was... *puts on sunglasses* ...sealed.
DeleteYYEEEEEEEEAAAAAAAAAHHHHHH!!!!!
I am too lazy to look and see if anyone told you burn remedies that don't involve fetus mutation, but my grandma (and I) swear by those Vitamin E capsules you can get at any drugstore...just stick a pin in it and smear it on the burn. Helps to promote skin healing. Like Aloe, but without the sticky-ness.
ReplyDeleteWow, an actually helpful comment from me, that is a first.
I should have emailed you for advice before I went out for supplies this morning :)
DeleteOr you can just stick the pin in your hand -- that should help teach Faith good vocabulary *and* how to jump around. Just be sure to take video.
DeleteI see your your husband out of town and burned hand and raise you an exploding pyrex dish.
ReplyDeleteI'm just glad I'm neither pregnant nor dealing with a toddler. Needy cats are enough for me right now.
Also Big Mac and fries. Hands down. Unless Five Guys or In-N-Out were options, then either (or all) of those.
5 Guys isn't fast food. That's date night dinner out.
Deletefatty
DeleteBreakfast: McDonalds. Hands down. No contest.
ReplyDeleteOtherwise: seasoned curly fries and 6 tacos from Jack in the Box.
Ok, I may have occasionally had my doubts about Kara, especially out during ultra runs where she was carrying a secret fork and knife and kept poking at the rest of us with cryptic comments about cuts of meat, but this
ReplyDelete> 5 Guys isn't fast food. That's date night dinner out.
restores my faith that yes, she really is a genius in disguise.
Also, horses may be a stupid hobby, but at least Kara's family appreciates hamburgers, so each time Faith outgrows a pony, you know it is going to good use on the grill.
ReplyDeleteMy favorite is in-n-out. I'm actually surprised that the B isn't interested in fries. I, on the other hand, can eat fries until I explode.
ReplyDeleteCUTE vid. I don't remember when L&K started to jump. Considering how fat & bowlegged they were, I'm not sure how they ever made it off the ground.
ReplyDeleteMy fast food options are limited by the whole vegetarian thing, but Arby's has the greatest fries ever.
ReplyDeleteI was unaware that children had to learn to jump...
Faith trying to jump is hysterical. Not that I was laughing at your kid or anything...
ReplyDeleteFaith is so cute it kills me!
ReplyDeleteI'm not afraid to take flack for purposely avoiding fast food as much as possible, but pretty much all summer I've been breakfasting at McD's drive-thru on the way to work and I blame it on the $1 drinks. In an effort to avoid my waist line from expanding, it's an egg mcmuffin (no meat, no butter & it's still awesome), iced coffee with cream & SF vanilla & large coke zero. Yup, coke zero for breakfast. Winning.
No fun bandaids for Faith - no Mickey Mouse or Elmos?
Fries AND apple slices? That must be child abuse. I'm calling you in for trying to make your toddler and fetus obese.
ReplyDeleteFries from McDonald's (and I do love their breakfast) and burgers from Dairy Queen.
I love In N Out and Chipotle. But I love any fast food. Seriously finger licking good. :)
ReplyDeleteWhen did McDonald's shrink their happy meal french fry size? Cheap bastards. I bet they didn't decrease the price!
ReplyDeleteMy favorite fast food... probably have to give that one to Taco Bell. Or maybe Blizzards from DQ. That counts as food, right?
Taco bell for sure. Trying their dorito taco is still a huge goal of mine. Oh wait, do McFlurries count? If so I change my answer.
ReplyDeleteI love a good quarter pounder with cheese and fries to satiate a hangover.
ReplyDeleteThe other day I was running 7 miles at the gym - the guy who works at the gym to sign people up brought their child in and they didn't have the childrens mcnugget meal but had the full on 10 chicken mcnugget meal in front of me while I was running. It kind of boggled my mind this happened at a gym.
Way to go on all that single parenting... my husband has two weekend conferences in the next three weeks so we planned our trip to visit family over that time so I have some help!
ReplyDeleteWe have a Chipotle two blocks away- definitely our go-to fast food.
Oh poor Peanut!! She didn't get a cheeseburger?
ReplyDeleteWendy's is so much better than McDonald's though. I love their french fries dipped in a Frosty.
But best fast food? In N Out (west coast) or Burger 7 (east coast), no contest.
Really, really important question. Why were none of those kids at the pyjama and stuffed toy story time actually wearing PJs? So disappointed. Don't they know that wearing PJs is, like, the best thing ev-ah?
ReplyDeleteAlso, in regards to burning your hand, I'd like to offer you the wonderful advice my husband gives me everytime I hurt myself: "Be careful".
You're welcome.
I still hate single parenting and my husband almost never goes anywhere. I get all solemn if he tells me he's working late (I know...I'm a HUGE wimp).
ReplyDeleteFavorite fast food.....Dairy Queen for dessert (especially lately), McDoanlds for fries...but for a real meal, Taco Bell.
I also just read your rant from Monday. I love the CIA World Factbook. I didn't discover it until library school. I learned about all sorts of fantastic nerdy reference books in library school (you'd like CultureGrams too--I give it to all the high school students who can't get beyond Wikipedia yet have to because their teachers are making them, but it's a really good summary for anyone).
I love that video of Faith!!!
ReplyDeleteThe only thing I like at Wendy's is the Frosty, but I have been known to make a Frosty run!
My husband has been gone 1/2 the month of July traveling. It does suck.
ReplyDeleteI like Wendy's. Although McDonald's has good milkshakes.
I like McDonald's too. I always get two little hamburgers.
