Preemptive fun

Even though I have a firm belief that I'm going to go over my due date again, I still feel a need to get things done. Well, obviously not a pressing need since silly things like "finish the nursery" haven't actually happened yet, but I'm on it...kinda. I did tackle this issue:

What a lovely pile of baby clothes on the floor

A crib full of crap with a dangerously heavy framed object above? Perfect.

I even organized it by size, which is as fancy as I get

We are getting new flooring put into the basement tomorrow (still fixing storm damage) and then we'll move all the office stuff to the basement and hopefully finish the nursery next weekend. By finish, I pretty much mean hang black out curtains and clean out the crib.

I wouldn't want Faith to miss out on any fall fun, so I decided that we should go to the pumpkin patch early this year, just in case I'm either TFP to go later or have the baby early (ha). It was actually really nice to go early this year because they had a ton of pumpkins and it wasn't even crowded.

The corn pit is all mine!

Daddy, what gear should this be in?

I will drive my enemies before me and hear the lamentations of their women!

I'm deeply insulted by this insinuation

Faith wasn't a huge fan of the petting zoo this year (too many flies), but this goat was a huge fan of me. I don't know what he thought I had for him, but he was working for it:

Kisssss me

I had gone on a group run that morning (only 5.5 miles, yet it felt much further) so I was glad that Faith was all about Daddy, all the time. It's amazing how much easier (physically) it is to be out and about if a toddler isn't hanging on you constantly.

Daddy, why is Mommy insisting on following us?

We made a huge mistake in thinking we could buy cupcakes (they have an awesome little cupcake place on the farm) and take them home for later. It's such a mixture of hilarity and shame to have to carry a 2 year old crying and screaming "CAKE! CAKE! CAAAAAAAAAKE!" to your car. She is passionate about her desserts!

I'm glad we were able to get some fall fun done early, especially since the other stuff happens really close to my due date. There is a fun Halloween event at a local sculpture garden, but it's on the 27th. I may need to kick the kid out of her stroller and be pushed around instead of her.

Just to end on an amusing note, this is what happened on Friday evening when we had a thunderstorm:

Faith isn't even scared, she was just jealous of Peanut

What's your favorite petting farm animal? I like the goats because they have so much personality, but they can be so pushy about food that I can understand why Faith is intimidated.

    1. Ooh, baby cows would have been adorable! They usually don't have cows at the petting zoos around here. Maybe it's a MD thing?

  2. My kid is really in to the goats because they were playfighting at the zoo last time we were there. I do not let her touch them yet, though, because goats are the trash disposal of the animal kingdom and would probably eat her thinking she was tiny detritus. And you know my favorite is llamas because I have a sick obsession with llamas. There are 13 up for adoption here in town, but my husband is standing strong. I need to protect my dogs from the coyotes.

  3. You fold your clothes? What a waste of time.

I like horses I guess? I'm not a big farm person...

    1. I know, I should just shove them in a drawer, but it makes me so out of breath.

    1. Even with the thundershirt on, she still really enjoys trying to be as close to my husband as possible during a storm!

  6. Best petting zoo animal -- hard to say. Maybe the eight foot python?

  7. I was dying to know if the goat picture was your own work and now my questions have been answered. Despite what Pinterest wants me to believe, the nursery seems good to me - the baby needs a crib and clothes right? You seem to be squared away in both areas.

  8. I like horses. Do they count? I don't mind goats, but they smell sometimes because of their scent gland.

I hope the baby doesn't overstay. I feel like that's going to be uncomfortable.

  9. It's our thanksgiving this weekend, but I'm also hoping for us to take a drive down to our pumpkin patches and/or apple orchards too. We missed out last year and any time Cameron sees a picture of a pumpkin he yells "PUMPKIN PATCH" - so I cannot wait to see his reaction! That and seeing a real live sheep. The boy is in love with sheeps. Pretty sure the goat would scare the hell out of Cameron though.

  12. The driving Faith caption tickled me in my funny spot. Also, that goat picture is ridiculous. Had to show my husband. I like goats but their eyes are so freaky and they just poop willy nilly. So I'm gonna stick with rabbits as my favorite.

  13. That's my nursery print - NoJo Jungle Babies! I specifically went gender neutral because I knew we wanted another. All I need to do is get some new initial letters once we pick out a name. I have an old post on my blog with how our nursery turned out.

I'm not a fan of petting zoos. The stench is just unbelievable to me. I can't imagine going pregnant when my nose is working 100x harder. Lewis enjoyed the goats though. :)

  14. Goats are also my favorite. My boyfriend's family owns two so luckily I don't have to seek out a petting zoo and push small children out of the way to see them.

Black out curtains are an amazing idea. I need to get on that.
