Mommy, I'm taking the car, ok?
She has some sort of cold/teething drool thing going on, but it's not slowing her down. In fact, she can't even stop running to let me wipe her nose and she just randomly comes up to me and yells "BLOW!" and splatters me with snot and then runs off giggling.
Do you need me to gas it up while I'm out?
I thought a trip to Kohl's would be a fun morning activity, especially since I had a 30% off coupon and 20 dollars in "Kohl's cash". I loaded my little force of nature and drove to the store and then remembered one key problem I have with Kohl's...their shopping carts.

Toddlers facing front...at shelf level
My little shopaholic kid was ripping things off hangers right and left and I spent most of the shopping trip painfully bending down to replace things she liberated. If they just didn't jam everything so close together, so much destruction could have been avoided. Even a loose animal in the store would have been less messy.
After getting her home and going through lunchtime drama (we had a disagreement about where lunch would be consumed, even though she always eats at the table), I was excited for nap time. After I put her in her bed, I hopped on the treadmill for the easiest part of my day: running! It's all about perspective.
Nap time didn't go well, but it never does on the day after school. I pay for those 5 hours of freedom in more than one way.
I am happy to report that Faith has decided that our new floors aren't so terrifying today! Getting the rug delivered helped too. Side note: If at any point you get a new rug while pregnant, expect to break a sweat unwrapping it and rolling it out. I felt like I needed a Gatorade break midway through.
Hyper toddler on a rampage!
A blur of crazy
In case you were wondering, yes I did pick out a rug that matches the dog so the hair wouldn't show as much.

It's days with a crazy toddler like today that make me grateful that I've gotten my husband used to a very low level of dinner cooking. He's basically wowed if the food is fully defrosted and edible. I'm a real catch.

What's the most exhausting part of your day? I usually feel like it's the afternoons because that's Faith's cranky time of day and I'm usually running short on patience.

When it was just Charlotte, 5-6 was the most exhausting. My husband wasn't home yet and I was trying to get dinner ready and I would about lose my mind. Now with Lena, it's still 5-6, but then it's also 9pm-2am. After that, she usually lets me sleep for a while. :)
ReplyDeleteOh, good it's going to get worse. I hate you.
DeleteAfternoons for me too, for similar reasons.
ReplyDeleteAnd, I'm so glad someone else sees the problems at Kohl's!
the rug looks nice! the most exhausting part of my day is when i'm at work for the same reasons as you...except i deal with cranky co-workers and i'm always short on patience.
ReplyDeleteThat's funny because I used to love afternoons when I worked because the mornings seemed SO LONG and all the meetings were always in the morning. I hated meetings so much. :)
DeleteAll I have to say (since I had a bunch of wine before typing this) is that you're definitely NOT a "compact" package of crazy right now.
ReplyDeleteBecause you're not compact you see.. That's the joke.
Big talk from a wino.
DeleteThe mornings. Getting the kids dressed and off to school. By the time they're gone, I need a nap.
ReplyDeleteOh and bedtime. I just want them to go to bed and all they want to do is chase each other around the house.
ReplyDeleteI hate 5:30-6:30 every night. 6:30 is magic wonderful workout time, and that hour before seems like a million years.
ReplyDeleteI've never been able to workout in the evening, so I'm jealous of you!
DeleteI'm most definitely a morning person, but after lunch... psht. I'm useless. I have a sinking spell from about 1-2 but usually pep back up. Then the craziest part of my day is from like 4-7. That's when I'm trying to wrap up shit at work, get home, figure out dinner, get in a run, walk the dogs, etc.
ReplyDeleteThat "figure out dinner" part is my least favorite. I have wished on many occasions that there was some kind of compressed dinner sustenance pill I could just take instead of cooking that meal :)
DeleteGood call on the dog-colored rug!
ReplyDeleteGetting out of bed is the worst for me. I am a morning runner, but not a morning person. That initial "getting up" part is hard!
I used to have a midafternoon slump, but oddly enough, getting rid of gluten seems to have cured that.
This post was boring, but you made up for it with the Spike gif. Anything can be made up for with a Spike gif.
ReplyDeleteThank you for appreciating my dedication to being a huge nerd.
DeleteI love the rug! I also bought my furniture to match dog hair :)
ReplyDeleteIt's hard to say if it was waking up at 5am to run, my first job, frantically doing grad work, or my second job, but your day sounded hard too. Actually, it was not punching this lazy fat bitch. She had it coming. But using at that willpower really wore me out.
ReplyDeleteI have a joke for you: Q: What's black and tan and dirty all over? A: Peanut and Kara's new rug
ReplyDeleteSorry, that was lame. I guess my most exhausting part of the day is 2-4pm when I am still stuck at work and ready to go home! That also seems to be the time my boss is the most needy. That and 4:55pm. Oy!
The new rug looks nice!
ReplyDeleteThe most exhausting part of my day? Dealing with annoying co-workers. Oops, did I say that out loud?
I can totally picture Faith running up to you and spraying you with snot! I'm totally laughing WITH you. There's a snot fest going on in my house too. The B wipes the snot with the back of her hand, then wipes her hand on the closest person or furniture.
ReplyDeleteThe hardest part of my day is 5-6, for the same reason you have with Faith. Unless it is Tuesday. I F-ing HATE Tuesdays. Long story short: Tuesdays = Library = no nap + toddler = meltdowns from 4:30 to 8. I contemplate staying at work on Tuesdays.
This blog thing is eating up some serious time! I don't know how you do it, and do it so well.
ReplyDeleteThe most exhausting part of my day is getting out of bed, in the shower, and dressed for work. Working from home days are my absolute favorite. Why shower before a workout anyway?
ReplyDeletemost exhausting part of my day seems to be typing this comment for the third time, my computer in f$%king with me and keeps deleting it. or it usually is bedtime when I have to get the kids ready for bed and all I want to do is go to sleep, but then my husband wants me to stay up and talk or "talk"
ReplyDeleteIt's nice to know I'm not the only one that picks things based on whether or not they are the same color as the dog's hair.
ReplyDeleteWe had pizza tonight and my husband found all four of us (me, kid, and 2 dogs) in our bed when he got home. I've got the flu and the baby has a cold.
ReplyDeleteI buy things to hide dog hair, but then the cat hair shows up. There is no winning!
