What's been going on

We've been mostly relaxing around here. Some more than others:

I love these heated seats

Everyone is finally healthy again! We've had to keep Faith stuck inside for so long that she has resorted to reading stories to the dog out of boredom.

Peanut! Pay attention!

Cordelia is now 8 weeks old!

When do I start getting an allowance?

We bundled everyone up and took them to a local farm that turns into a "Christmas farm" during the holidays.

Going anywhere with kids takes forever

Faith was pretty neutral about the Christmas farm last year, but she was really excited about it this year, mostly because of this:

PONY RIDES!!

HORSIE!!

Cordelia was unimpressed by the whole Christmas farm experience and did this the whole time:

Wake me when it's my turn for the pony

Because it wouldn't be Christmas without a picture near a creepy Elvis doll:

Totally normal

Faith loved sitting on all the old fashioned toys in one of the barns:

This pony is much less smelly than the other one

This ride is lame. I'm going to stomp and make it shake!

Christmas was pretty low key here. My side of the family couldn't make it because my brother had some kind of flu/virus and he was too sick to travel (and we didn't want to risk getting the baby sick again). Luckily my husband's parents could still make it!

Grandma!

Let's clap for Grandma!

For the first time, Faith actually seemed to "get" the concept of presents and really enjoyed opening them. It took forever because she wanted to play with each toy once she opened it.

I must color before I can open any more gifts!

We saved her big present for last (my husband had assembled it after she went to bed) and she was so surprised to see a play house inside. She has been inside of that thing constantly since then.

Kilroy was here

The weather today is awful (freezing rain and wind) so I may end up running on the treadmill instead of going outside, but I'm pretty OK with that. I hate running in cold rain and if I don't have to do a long run, I'd rather stay inside.

This whole week is going to be a vacation for me because my husband has off and then we're traveling this weekend for Cordelia's baptism, so I'm already planning for this to be a fall back week in terms of running mileage. I'm going to start formal marathon training next week, so it's good timing!

Are you using the holidays as a chance to slip in extra workouts or are you hanging out in sweats in front of the fire (like me) enjoying a break?

  1. I totally sat around all day yesterday in sweatpants and didn't shower until 6:30.. Lazy ass. And I ate not one, but two pieces of pie--chocolate cream and cheescake. fat, lazy ass.

  2. Your Christmas was decidedly lacking in a certain hot uncle. Lame. I was totally going to work out today, but I'm snowed in. I'm hoping I can run tomorrow, but it's looking unlikely. I just gorged myself on leftover Chinese, so I'm feeling truly disgusting today.

  3. Sounds like you had a nice Christmas. I didn't really do much with family either. We even ended up skipping a family (husban'ds side) Christmas Eve party which was a total bummer. Also, I miss my mommy dammit! (She's in San Diego)
Other than that, it was good to rewatch a ton of Christmas movies and eat cookies all day long.

  4. Faith is rocking the crap out of the owl hat. I love it.

I like that this post is mostly pictures so I don't have to strain my brain with reading.

  6. Love the photo captions, as always. Glad your babies are healthy again. I still can't believe you do all the crap you do without coffee. Come to the dark side: the caffeinated, lazy, drugged up dark side.

  7. I've been working out like usual, but I think I'm still coming out behind because I've easily consumed quadruple the calories that I've run off this week.

  8. I'm in Ohio and we're getting some semi-serious snow, so no running outside right now. And my parents don't have a treadmill. So I'll run once it stops snowing and they plow and salt a bit. I did get a new reflective windbreaker from Santa. FYI, I've signed up for the Georgetown 10 miler in March if you have any interest. Also, I love the video of Faith seeing her house for the first time. That laugh is priceless!

  9. I love the owl hat. And that Elvis, WHAT??

I ran 10 miles Saturday on some trails, didn't shower, sat around being gross, had friends over for Christmas Eve dinner, then ran 20 Sunday. THEN I finally did shower. And sat around doing nothing Monday and Tuesday, besides eating all the things.

    I figure it's a wash.

  10. FACT: People who use holidays to get in extra workouts either hate their families or live miserable lives. The holidays are for sitting around with your family in pajamas. Preferably eating and drinking. I am beginning LPM training this weekend too!

  11. I love your technique in making Santa seem way less scary - expose your child to a hideous and nightmare-inducing giant Elvis doll and after that even fat bearded men in red suits will seem quite safe.

  12. Yikes! That Elvis is creepy.

I have been enjoying my family and all the extra rest days. Tomorrow I'll be back at it!

  13. You're mean. They pulled the barrels out to block off the barns at the top of the circle early, the night we drove through, so we didn't get to go out & inside....

Posting all these photos of what we missed -- meanie...
