This year I decided to have a theme for the kids' costumes, mostly because it's hilariously fun and also it's probably the last year that Faith will let me pick her costume. When Wayfair contacted me and asked if I would review a dog costume for the blog, I knew Peanut had to get in the action too. I can't turn down any chance to subject the dog to public humiliation. Before you feel bad for her, let me tell you that Peanut is already an expert in humiliating me in public. Here is just one of many, many examples: The first time we met my sister-in-law, she knelt down to greet Peanut. Before we could even scream "NOOOO, never get on her level!" Peanut had raised her paw back like a pimp and slapped my sister-in-law right across the face.
This was right after I was like "Oh, she's very friendly" so I think Peanut knew was she was doing. The rest of the day my sister-in-law had red scratches on her face and I felt the deep humiliation of owning a ridiculously ill behaved dog.
Revenge is sweet, especially when it's in the form of a hound dog humiliation in a bumble bee costume.

I had this whole vision of getting an adorable picture of the dog with the kids, but it turns out that I should really just be glad I got one picture of the kids sitting still and not even hope to involve the dog.
I can't even
It turns out that the Hyperbole and a Half post about Halloween costumes was onto to something about how kids act in costumes, because my kids were nuts in those things. All Faith wanted to do was run laps around the driveway shouting "I'm a bee! I'M FLYING!" and Cordelia just thought everything was hilarious. Especially the dog as a bee.
Psst baby, look behind you
It's a dog-le bee!
It was excitement overload for the kids. I don't know how they are going to keep it together on the actual holiday when there is candy involved.
Listen up you baby, I get ALL of the candy. Got it?
The dog tolerated her costume pretty well. I think she thought it was her Thundershirt.
Please note the adorable wings
While I love the bug theme we have going on, I did find one dog costume that was added after I picked mine and I'm so pissed that I didn't get it. Behold:
Imperial Walker Dog
My first choice for the costumes was a Star Wars theme, so this would have totally been the one I picked, but the bumblebee one is pretty cute too. If you're looking to humiliate your dog this Halloween, then you can probably find what you want here. I've never seen so many costume options. I'm not sure who wants dog sized Lederhosen, but this is the place to get it.
If nothing else, I'm sure these public pictures of Peanut dressed as a bee will make sure she never dares to pimp slap anyone ever again.

Peanut's costume was provided to me by Wayfair, but all opinions and dog-pimp slap stories are my own.
The winner of my pair of the Monster NTune headphones was comment #39 Kathleen R who doesn't want to hear her cubicle neighbor clip their nails anymore (uh, ew?)! Please email me at kara975 at gmail.com with a mailing address so I can send them to you. If you didn't win, don't give up! You still have a chance to win one of the 25 pairs. You can enter by just saying what color you'd like (see instructions at the end of the post). That contest ends on November 1st!
