At least once a day, I wish there was a way I could lock myself in a cone of silence and not hear my toddler whining, the baby crying, and dog endlessly pacing with clicking toenails on the hard floors. Luckily there is a product for that, but instead of silence you get to listen to music!
These are "headphones with attitude" because anthropomorphizing electronics is a fun marketing technique, plus they come in a variety of fun colors. Mine are Candy Grape Purple which basically means I'm in no danger of having my husband borrow these headphones. Everything about these headphones is fancy. They even have a little sleeping bag!
Let's break this review down to pros and cons:
Pro: The sound for these headphones is amazing. I normally use Yurbuds to listen to music and this blew that experience out of the water. When I used these headphones, I heard parts of my music that I had never even noticed before!
Con: They are really loud, even at low low volume settings. I have delicate ears though so this could be a personal problem.
Pro: They are really durable. You can twist them and bend them and drop them on the ground and they are designed to take the punishment (well, a reasonable amount of punishment). I wouldn't give them to a small kid (for the volume reason) but these would be great for a teenager.
|I'm basically a teenager|
Con: They make my ears hot. Again, this could be a personal problem so this may not be universally applicable.
Pro...and Con: When you have these on, you can't hear anything other than your music. Even when my husband would stand in front of me and talk, I couldn't make out one single word....it was just like watching a mime act.
This last point brings me to a somewhat un-kosher twist to this product review: I'm going to give these away to one of you. Why? Because my lifestyle (as a full time baby bitch) doesn't have any time when I can take a break from being able to hear what's going on around me. When my kids are awake, I need to at least pretend to be listening to them and when they are asleep, I need to be able to hear the monitors.
Back when I had an office job, I would have adored these headphones. They are perfect for drowning out cubicle noise when you're trying to concentrate (or ignore that annoying coworker). I also would have loved them in grad school or college when I was trying to study in the student center or library. They would also be great for someone who travels for work since they are comfortable to wear for long flights (way more comfortable than ear buds in my opinion) and you could hear your music or watch a movie over the white noise of the plane engine. They would be awesome for my husband since he travels a lot, but the bright purple color really kills it for him, but that's for your benefit.
This was supposed to just be a product review and I honestly thought I was getting running headphones (this is why you should never make assumptions). I figure that we all see bloggers get awesome free shit all the time and they never share unless the company provides a giveaway item. I could stash these headphones away until my kids are older or re-gift them at Christmas (the holidays are coming up!), but I'd really rather give them to someone who will love them now. After all, you all are the reason any companies think it's worthwhile to send me free shit.
So let's make this simple: Just leave a comment if you want a chance to win these headphones, still in near mint condition and still in the fancy box. Since I'm the one doing the giveaway and paying for shipping, I'm going to have to limit this to just the U.S., but not Alaska or Hawaii. Fuck, if you live in Hawaii you don't need free shit. Just go outside, you live in fucking paradise.
No extra entries for tweeting about it or liking my Facebook page, as all that stuff just gives me a headache when I'm trying to pick a winner. Everyone can get one entry (unless you create dummy accounts, no one will know!) and have a chance to win these headphones with a retail value of $149.95. You can give these to someone for Christmas and see them get excited and know that you're a genius for not having to pay. You're welcome.
I'll pick a winner on Monday!
These headphones were provided to me by Monster through the BlogHer review program and all opinions are my own. They didn't even offer to buy me off. Insulting, right?
