I was reading another blog recently that said their toddler girl (older than Faith) just got new shoes in size 7 for her hugely growing feet. Yeah, try size 9s:
Toddler Sasquatch foot
I've even had strangers in the store stop and exclaim about the size of her feet, so I try to compensate for that with adorable shoes. It works out pretty well since none of her shoes fit for more than 2 months, so we can stay on top of the latest toddler trends. I think I topped myself this time on the ridiculous scale, but she loves her new wedges:
She is officially a more fashionable dresser than her mother
When you see adorable toddler wedge sandals in the clearance section at Target, you don't hesitate, you just put that shit in the cart. She adores them, mostly because they are loudest stomping shoe of all time.
Mommy, these make me even taller. Are you sure that's a good plan?
This hallway is my RUNWAY!
I knew it was going to be miserably hot today, so I made sure to put my big-footed child in the stroller for an early run. Even at 8am, the high humidity made the run pretty hot and miserable. We hit 100* for the high today, so it was pretty hopeless to get any comfort outside. I thought the dog would enjoy it, but she let me know her true feelings when we got back:
You suck. I'm calling Sarah McLaughlin.
Other than a quick trip to Lowe's, we pretty much stayed inside the rest of the day. I did run 4 more miles on the treadmill during nap time, but other than that, I sat my ass and tried to stay cool. Faith did her best to thwart my plans with hi jinks like filling her toy wagon with milk and chewing up pieces of apple and spitting them in random spots in the house (she just lost her apple eating on the couch privileges with that one).
That seems awfully judgmental Mommy
I'm going to save this melon in my cheek to shove in the couch cushions.
Tomorrow is predicted to hit 99*, so I'm debating if I should even try to run outside at all or just stick to the treadmill. It might be a daycare day for Peanut because I'm sure she'd like a day of playing in the dog pool and barking. She's not allowed to bark at home, so that's a real treat for her.
Do you have tiny/average/ginormous sized feet? Do you ever have a hard time finding shoes? I know as a size 8, I never have a hard time, unless it's clearance stuff.
Huge feet: size 11. Impossible to find shoes and my feet are so wide I buy men's running shoes. Boo.
ReplyDeleteThose wedges are kick ass! Faith is way more fashionable than anyone I know. Too bad she's got bigfoot feet.
ReplyDeleteI wear size 6. I loovvee clearance shoe shopping - always something in my size!
Also, it was 100 degrees here today. What kind of hell is this? I thought I lived in Wisconsin. It's a treadmill day for sure.
Size 6?? Oh man, you're lucky! I feel like so many shoes look cuter in small sizes (like heels)
DeleteI can fit into 11s in heels, but I need 12s for running shoes. DSW carries a few 11s, and I can order whatever I want online and return it to the store without paying a cent for shipping. Just today I received three pairs of shoes in the mail. One worked, and I'll take the others to the store tomorrow. It's so easy. My poor 6'1" little sister wears 13s. Barefootess.com is her preferred shoe place. Evidently they have 40% off sales month.
ReplyDeleteFaith will be fine if she wears an 11 or 12, but size 13 earns her Freak Status.
I hope she can squeak under the wire and avoid Freak Status lol
DeleteHa my five year old wears a size 10 but she really has small small feet! So do I though I wear a 6! Its super easy to find shoes and I get all the cute stuff in clearance!
ReplyDeleteif you can go super early maybe outside but than again its 100 and over everyday this week so 99 sounds like a nice day :) plus you have a baby heating your core up more, inside crazy!
Angie said "Nice bangs".
ReplyDeleteMy feet are between an 8 to a 9.5 depending on the shoe/brand but my Mom thought I was going to be big foot or something because when I was in jr high she used to buy my shoes like a size or two too big so I could "grow into them". Yeah, all that did for me was give a spider plenty of hiding room one day since I haven't actually grown since 6th grade.
ReplyDeleteLogan is just fitting into size 6 shoes right now (at 15 months). I don't know how fast baby feet change sizes since he's only been wearing shoes recently. He's above 90% for height and weight, so his feet don't look too huge for his body, but I have a feeling I will be ordering his shoes when he is older. My husband is 6'6" and a size 14 shoe and my brother is 6'9" and a size 18.
ReplyDeleteI am a size 10, so I can find shoes. It helps that I never wear heels or anything that you average woman would consider very fashionable. I stick to Birkenstock, Born, Keen and Clark's shoes. I do have to buy size 11 running shoes, which is hard to find in the store sometimes, but not enough to complain about it.
My kids all have normal sized feet. My uncle wore a size 15 way before it was cool. He had to order his tennis shoes from a catalog, and they came in one style and color.
ReplyDeleteI also enjoy the 'huge feet for my height' gene. I'm 5'4" standing really straight and wear a men's 8 1/2 running shoe...because my feet aren't happy being long gun boats, they also have to be as wide as my behind.
Adding insult to injury - my middle toe is crooked on both feet. I won't be able to add Foot Model to my resume, ever.
With the way my toes look, no one cares how big my feet are. (Compared to my siblings and mother I have giant feet.)
ReplyDeleteLove those wedges! Faith is sooo cute. She should walk that runway.
So much better photos than yesterday's. Especially the one of Peanut. Finally you hired a good photographer - I applaud the move.
ReplyDeleteThose shoes are adorable! Size 9 is impressive. My soon to be two year old is a 7.5. She is also tall for her age, so I wasn't surprised to see she has big feet.
ReplyDeleteI love the Sarah McLaughlin reference.
I am a size 8 for street shoes also, so not too many issues in finding shoes, but I do think it is one of the more popular sizes. My fit in a shoe is sometimes compromised by my Morton's toe (second (and third - bonus!) toes longer than the first). I found out that people actually have plastic surgery to reduce the other toe sizes so their feet look nicer in sandals.
Size 8.5, so I don't think I have giant feet. I can find most shoes, except shoes on sale...so I think my size is very popular.
ReplyDeleteToddler-wedges are too cute!
Toddler Sasquatch. I'm dying. My husband and I had a conversation that we are going to have a baby sasquatch some day not because of big feet but because we might possibly have the hairiest baby EVER.
ReplyDeleteFaith was born with HAIRY EARS. I called them Wolfman ears and really worried that it wouldn't fall out :)
DeleteA treat for Peanut is barking. That poor dog. I like to encourage Bungee's barking because she never does it. It's hilarious.
ReplyDeleteI have a size giant foot, but I'm tall, so it looks fairly normal. Just think, Faith has a great giant footed role model to look up to: Paris Hilton. She's a size 11.
Uh, Peanut is a hound so she doesn't need encouragement to be vocal haha.
DeleteAt least Paris Hilton designed a line of cute shoes for girls with big feet. It's her one contribution to society.
As a size six, I have a fairly small end in feet size. In fact when I need lower heeled shoes, I have shopped at the kid's section. But I would much rather be taller.
ReplyDeleteAnd note to self not to read your blog at work. I just laughed by myself and my co-worker looked over and said who's that toddler?
Haha, just be like "Uh, my niece. Yeah." :)
DeleteOMG TODDLER WEDGES! I die! She is so frigging cute it's ridiculous. I kind of want to punch the random person(s) who don't think twice about making comments about children that might eventually make them feel self conscious about things though. Stupid stupid people.
ReplyDeleteAt least she's too young to understand how big feet aren't always adorable :)
DeleteYeah, Faith totally has cuter shoes than I do.
ReplyDeleteMy husband has red hair and Sasquatch feet as well. Damn gingers. :)
Everything is their fault! :)
DeleteMy feet have grown since I started running. I used to be an 8, now I'm a solid 9 in running shoes. I thought that was huge, but since I started fitting others for shoes, I've learned it's pretty average. At least for runners.
ReplyDeleteI'm of average height, weight and now shoe size. I rock at being normal.
DeleteMy husbands nickname is Shrek because of his feet and the fact that he's built just like Shrek in general. Our middle child has been blessed with large feet. By the time he's in middle school he'll be way past me. He's in 4th grade this year and is 3 sizes below me. I might need to get a second job between the shoes and food.
ReplyDeleteKid shoes are crazy expensive, even on clearance!
DeleteFaith is way more fashionable than me too!
ReplyDeleteI had size 9 until I lost weight. Now I'm size 8-8.5 which is fine by me.
ReplyDeleteYou had fat feet hahaha
DeleteShe has much better style than me, too... the benefits of constantly outgrowing your wardrobe. We're all average foot sizes here.
ReplyDeleteI know, it's like how I'm more stylish pregnant than not, mostly because I'm wearing other people's clothes (hand me downs) haha
DeleteI thought of this song when you wrote about the heat. I think it could be a great new song for Faith to dance to.
ReplyDeleteHydrate Jirate
Those wedged, I die. Those are adorable. I wear 9-9.5 and I feel like I can't ever find shoes. That said, I hate shoes so I probably am not the best judge of cute footwear.
